Issue is a research institute and curatorial structure whose aim is to co-build knowledge using public initiatives and program that involve the sciences, visual arts and performing arts.

Each issue is approached through a project that combines scientific research, artistic creation and social engagement.

ISSUE was founded in 2012, by Sandrine Teixido and is supported by a production and mediation structure, LMEC (association under French law 1901, created in 2009), that produces and coordinates the setting up of the various projects.

ISSUE develops research projects that involve scientific research work, inquiries, fieldwork data collection and co-building skills with the communities involved.

The reliability of scientific knowledge must be revalidated in each territory and that demands the expertise of those for whom the local results matter. The scientists need, as do the artists, for ‘people to think’. Isabelle Stengers

Issue develops an editorial reflection of narratives, tales and speculation that circulate in public space and the possibility of a re-appropriation of these by the actors.

It matters what matters we use to think other matters with; it matters what stories we tell to tell other stories with; it matters what knots knot knots, what thoughts think thoughts, what ties tie ties. It matters what stories make worlds, what worlds make stories. Dona Haraway
